You should try:  

delete the link: rm /usr/bin/jre
Place the bin directory for Java in your PATH and call sapgui
PATH=$PATH:/usr/jre118/bin;export PATH;guistart /H/Locahost/S/3218
You must place the PATH command in your .profile if you want to skip 
setting the PATH every time you want to startup sap.

It works better.
